I am a military veteran and computer scientist.
Thanks to my broad background covering air and space operations, machine learning, control theory, and neuroscience, I’ve been able to tackle some interesting questions “in-between” fields.

I love learning new things, problem-solving, and especially learning new things about problem-solving. This has led in my academic life to a fascination with artificial intelligence and thinking about the types of problems that AI can solve.
My drive to tackle big problems helped me produce a successful Master’s thesis. I investigated how context can be used to help detect anomalies and the work was recognized with the Canadian AI Association’s Best Master’s Thesis Award.
For my doctoral thesis I characterized how rapid motor behaviours are constrained in humans because of capacity limits. Using this insight I developed discrete-event control theory models to help build the future’s intelligent agents.
Back in the military, I helped the Canadian Space Operations Centre through its initial stand-up as it grew into an established unit. As the unit’s first Standards and Training Officer I led the creation of an operational course underpinning a 24/7 space watch.
